Recordkeeping

New York fire safety codes establish requirements and standards for life safety and property protection in the event of an emergency, both fire and non-fire. The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) issues and routinely reviews fire safety codes.

In April of 2006 the FDNY amended the Fire Code. In the new FDNY fire code, section R404-02m requires an EAP Logbook be bound and maintained onsite for five years.

In July 2010 the FDNY amended Section 404-01-s-1 – 404-01-s- to indicate that a Fire Safety Plan logbook to track fire safety events, drills, training, inspections, etc., is required to be maintained at an approved location.
